Step 1 of 2, the job

Why CanCorp

Four reasons crews order from us

Workwear is bought on a deadline. Somebody is starting on site next week, a contract needs the logo on every jacket, or the office wants matching polos for a trade show, and the order has to arrive right the first time.

Three business days, with a 24 hour rush

Our standard turnaround is three business days from the moment you approve the artwork, and a 24 hour rush is there for the weeks when a start date cannot move.

Because the work is done in our own shop rather than sent out, the date we give you is a date we control, which is the part that matters when a crew is waiting on it.

The right method for each garment

A heavy canvas jacket, a mesh hi-vis vest and a cotton crew shirt do not take a logo the same way. Embroidery suits jackets, polos and caps, while screen printing and DTF suit large back prints and lighter fabrics.

We run all of these in one workroom, so the recommendation follows the garment. One order can mix them, and you deal with one shop and one invoice.

Your logo stays on file

Embroidery needs your logo turned into a stitch file, which we digitize in house. Once it exists we keep it, along with your thread colours and placements.

That is what makes the single new-hire jacket in March look exactly like the forty that went out in September, without anybody having to dig out the original artwork.

Garments you already own

If your company already buys workwear from a supplier, or has a stock of blank jackets in the back, send them in and we will decorate them.

If you would rather we supply the garments, we will put options in front of you, including Under Armour on a direct account for office and client-facing staff.

Who we outfit

Workwear for trades, sites and offices

Bulk orders and steady reorders, set up so the whole team looks like one company.

Trades and construction

Crew shirts, hoodies, softshells and winter jackets for general contractors, roofers, electricians, plumbers and landscapers, with the company logo and crew names where you want them.

Hi-vis and site wear

Hi-vis vests, shirts and jackets with logo placement chosen with you. If your site calls for a particular class of high-visibility garment, say so in the form and we will confirm what we can supply before we quote.

Corporate and staff apparel

Polos, quarter-zips, fleece and outerwear for offices, dealerships and front-of-house staff, chosen so people wear them after work rather than leaving them in a locker.

Shop and service uniforms

Work shirts, coveralls and aprons for shops, warehouses, kitchens and service vans, decorated to stand up to the wash cycle they will actually get.

How it runs

Getting the logo right on workwear

Workwear is harder on decoration than a t-shirt. These are the four decisions we make with you before the run starts.

Embroidery for jackets and polos

Stitched logos last as long as the garment and look the part on a softshell, a canvas jacket or a polo. We digitize the logo for each fabric, because a file built for a heavy jacket will pucker on a light polo. Our embroidery page covers the detail.

  • Jackets and softshells
  • Polos and caps
  • Lasts the life of the garment

Print for big backs and light fabrics

A large company name across the back of a hoodie or a hi-vis vest is usually better printed than stitched. Screen printing is the economical route once a run is large and the colours are few, and DTF handles full-colour logos on a handful of pieces.

  • Back prints
  • Lightweight fabrics
  • Full-colour logos

Hi-vis placement

Logo placement is chosen with the customer and confirmed on a mock-up before production.

  • Customer-selected placement
  • Mock-up before the run

Names and reorders

Name bars, departments, numbers, positions and titles can be imprinted on individual garments. Your stitch files and placements are kept, so an embroidered reorder, even a single new-hire piece, matches the first batch.

  • Crew names
  • Single embroidered pieces
  • Logo on file

How it works

Four steps from brief to delivery

Tell us the job

Start with the garment, the quantity and where the logo goes. You do not need finished artwork at this stage, because a sketch or a photo of an old print tells us enough to price the work, and we come back with garment options, pricing and a schedule.

Pick the garment

Choose from the brands we carry, or send in garments you already own. Both routes run through the same workroom, and neither one is treated as the awkward exception.

Approve the artwork

Before anything goes onto a machine we confirm the placement, the size and the colours with you, and nothing runs until you have said yes to what you are looking at.

We produce it

The work is made at Bay 1 on 35 Avenue NE, so you can collect it here in Calgary once it is finished, or we will ship it out to you.

Questions

Workwear questions we get asked in Calgary

How much do custom work uniforms cost?

Decoration is as low as $3.50 a piece when you supply the garment. When we supply it, the price follows the jacket, vest or shirt you choose.

Beyond that, it depends on the size of the logo, the method and how many pieces are in the order. A left-chest logo on a polo and a full back print on a winter jacket are different jobs and price differently.

Tell us the garments and the quantity through the form and you will get real numbers back rather than a range.

How long does a crew order take?

Standard turnaround is three business days from artwork approval, and if you need the order sooner than that, a 24 hour rush is available.

The schedule depends on the garments being in stock and on how quickly you approve the mock-up. If the crew starts on a fixed date, put it in the message and we will tell you straight away whether it is workable.

Can you decorate workwear we already own?

Yes, and it is a normal way to work here. Jackets from your current supplier, blank shirts in the stock room, last year's uniforms that need a new logo: send them in and we will decorate them.

Tell us the garment and the fabric when you get in touch, because canvas, softshell, mesh and waterproof fabrics each need the job set up differently.

Can you put our logo on hi-vis?

Yes. Logo placement is chosen with you and confirmed on a mock-up before production. If your site requires a particular class of high-visibility garment, name it in the form and we will confirm what we can supply, and where the logo can go, before we quote.

Embroidery, screen printing or DTF: which suits workwear?

Embroidery is the usual choice for jackets, polos and caps, because it looks professional and lasts as long as the garment. Screen printing suits big back prints on larger orders, and DTF suits full-colour logos and short runs, including lightweight fabrics.

If you are not sure, say so in the form and we will recommend a method for each garment.

Can you add crew names?

Yes. Name bars, departments, numbers, positions and titles can be imprinted on individual garments in the same order. List them in the message and we will include them in the quote.

What happens when a new hire needs one jacket?

Your stitch files and placements are kept on file, and there is no minimum on embroidery, so a single embroidered jacket can be ordered later and it will match the rest of the crew. For printed pieces, tell us the quantity and we will confirm it.

How long have you been doing this?

CanCorp is in its fifteenth year under the current owner, and the embroidery side is older still, because it grew out of JBM Embroidery, which has been running in Calgary since 1996.

Where are you, and can I come in?

We are at Bay 1, 2320 35 Avenue NE in Calgary, and you are welcome to drop garments off, look at samples and pick orders up. Call 403-536-0759 before you come so that the right person is on the floor when you arrive.

Next step

Tell us what the crew needs

We will come back with garment options, pricing and a production schedule. A photo of the logo is enough to start with.
