WHY CANCORP

Four reasons the shirts turn out right

A shop that only screen prints will always tell you to screen print. Because we run multiple methods under one roof, the recommendation can follow your run size and your artwork instead of our equipment.

One shop, multiple ways to print it

Screen printing gets cheaper per shirt as the run grows, provided the colour count stays low. DTF handles full colour and short runs without a setup charge for every colour, and embroidery is the answer for anything with a collar, or for a logo that needs to look clean and consistent from close up.

Tell us the quantity and describe the artwork, and we will tell you which of the these options best fit your project, including the times when the right answer is the one that bills us less.

A workroom you can walk into

We are at Bay 1, 2320 35 Avenue NE, so you can approve a sample in person, drop garments off and collect the finished run.

Several of the sites ranking for custom t-shirts in Calgary are shipping the work in from another province, which is fine right up until a box goes missing or a size runs short two days before an event. At that point being able to drive across town is the whole job.

Your shirts or ours

Choose from the brands we carry, or send in blanks you have already bought, because both routes run through the same shop.

That flexibility earns its keep when a supplier has already shipped you garments, when a team still has stock from last season, or simply when the shirt you want is not one we hold.

Artwork that survives the transfer to fabric

Most artwork does not arrive print ready. Thin strokes fill in, gradients band, and a logo pulled off a website is rarely at print resolution.

So send whatever you have, whether that is a sketch, a screen shot photo or an old shirt. Our design team works it into something that will reproduce properly, and you approve the placement, the size and the colour before anything runs.

WHAT THE SHIRTS ARE FOR

Runs we print most weeks

Construction workwear, Corporate apparel, staff uniforms, teams, events and merch. Different jobs that suit different methods, all from the same shop.

Staff and uniform tees

Shift shirts, shop tees and branded polos for crews who wear them daily, built to survive a wash cycle rather than a photo shoot.

Teams, clubs and schools

Practice tees, warmups, fundraiser shirts and club merch, with names and numbers added wherever you need them.

Events and fundraisers

Stampede, conferences, tournaments and charity runs, where the deadline is really the specification, so tell us the date in the form.

Merch and retail

Small runs for bands, cafes, shops and campaigns, printed on garments people will willingly pay for rather than on whichever blank costs least.

CHOOSING THE METHOD

Which way to print your shirts

The right answer depends on how many shirts you need, how many colours are in the design and how much fine detail it carries. This is the same guidance you would get from us on the phone.

Screen printing

Ink is pushed through a screen, one colour at a time, and because setup happens once per colour, the cost per shirt falls as the run grows. It is the route for bold graphics across a larger run of tees and hoodies.

  • Larger runs
  • One to four colours
  • Bold graphics

DTF transfers

Full-colour artwork is printed onto film and pressed into the fabric, with no setup per colour, so photographic artwork and short runs work out sensibly. You can also order DTF transfers online , priced and paid for on the site.

  • Short runs
  • Full colour
  • Photographic detail

Embroidery

Thread stitched into the garment itself. It is not the answer for a large front print, but it is very much the answer for polos, caps and jackets, and for a left chest logo that has to look considered close up.

  • Polos and caps
  • Jackets
  • Left chest logos

Sublimation and cut and sew

Dye is bonded into the fibre so the design runs edge to edge with nothing to peel or crack. It is used for complete jersey and uniform builds, which are made panel by panel rather than decorated after the fact.

  • Full uniform builds
  • Edge to edge colour

HOW IT WORKS

Four steps from brief to delivery

Tell us the job

Start with the garment, the quantity and where the logo goes. You do not need finished artwork at this stage, because a sketch or a photo of an old print tells us enough to price the work, and we come back with garment options, pricing and a schedule.

Pick the garment

Choose from the brands we carry, or send in garments you already own. Both routes run through the same workroom, and neither one is treated as the awkward exception.

Approve the artwork

Before anything goes onto a machine we confirm the placement, the size and the colours with you, and nothing runs until you have said yes to what you are looking at.

We produce it

The work is made at Bay 1 on 35 Avenue NE, so you can collect it here in Calgary once it is finished, or we will ship it out to you.

QUESTIONS

T-shirt questions we get asked in Calgary

How much do custom t-shirts cost in Calgary?

Printing and embroidery as low as $3.50 a piece when you supply the garment, or $10 with the garment is included.

Beyond that, two things drive the price: the garment you choose and the decoration you put on it. A heavy cotton tee carrying a one-colour front print and a premium ringspun tee carrying a four-colour back print are different jobs at different numbers.

Send the design and the quantity through the form and you will get specific pricing back for the garments that suit the run.

How many shirts do I have to order?

There is no minimum on custom t-shirts or embroidery, so whether you need one piece or five hundred, the job runs through the same shop.

Method is a different question from minimum, though. Screen printing carries a setup per colour, so it makes sense once the run is big enough to spread that cost, whereas DTF has no setup per colour, which is why short runs usually go that way. We price whichever method suits the quantity.

Which printing method should I choose?

As a rule of thumb, a larger run with one to four flat colours goes to screen print, a short run or a photographic design goes to DTF, and anything with a collar goes to embroidery.

Put the quantity and a description of the artwork in the form and we will recommend one of them, including the times when that recommendation is the cheaper option.

Can I supply my own shirts?

Yes, whether they are blanks you already bought, garments a supplier shipped you, or stock left over from last season. Tell us the brand and the fabric when you get in touch, because both the print and the stitch setup change with the material.

What artwork file do you need?

To quote the job, nothing in particular. A sketch, a phone photo or an old shirt is enough to start.

To print it, a vector file is ideal for screen printing, while a high resolution PNG at the size it will be printed works well for DTF. If what you have is not there yet, our design team will work it up and you approve it before anything runs.

How long does an order take?

Standard turnaround is three business days from artwork approval, and if you need the order sooner than that, a 24 hour rush is available.

The schedule itself depends on garment stock, on the decoration method and on how quickly the mock-up comes back approved. If you are working to an event date, put it in the message and we will tell you straight away whether it is workable.

Can you do names and numbers on team shirts?

Yes. Because names and numbers change on every garment, they run as heat transfer or DTF rather than as screen print. Send the roster with the order and we will set the sizes and the placement to match the rest of the kit.

How long have you been doing this?

CanCorp is in its fifteenth year under the current owner, and the embroidery side is older still, because it grew out of JBM Embroidery, which has been running in Calgary since 1996.

Where are you, and can I pick the order up?

We are at Bay 1, 2320 35 Avenue NE in Calgary. Pickup is welcome and we can ship as well, so call 403-536-0759 if you would rather talk the run through before sending the details over.
